Rayo vallecano, often refered to as ´Rayo´ is based in Madrid, in the neighbourhood Vallecas. This team is what they call a yo-yo club. It has been bouncing between the three Spanish divisions for the past 20 years. It s an interesting story about a club with a tumultuous history.

The yo-yo club from Vallecas
Rayo Vallecano spend the 80´s and 90´s moving back and forth between the first and the second division. In 1999 they promoted again and managed to maintain their position in the primera division. Shortly after that the club went upwards at high speed. In 2001 they reached the quarter finals of the UEFA cup tournament. Two years later they went down just as fast as they came up. When Rayo Vallecano was playing for one of the biggest prices all over Europe in 2001, four years later they played in the 3rd division of Spain. Everything s possible happen when it comes to football.
