Guided tours are an excellent way to see a lot in a single day, or to explore an unfamiliar place without having to plan complicated routes in advance. Many Madrid sightseeing tours are available- touring the city itself, and also those which allow visitors to see smaller, cultural towns and cities in other parts of Spain surrounding Madrid, like in Castilla y León or Castilla La Mancha. Madrid Sightseeing Tours
One popular tour which leaves from Madrid, for example: Avila & Segovia, covers two historic towns located in Castilla y León. Segovia is particularly well known for its fully preserved aqueduct, and Avila for its fort wall, which surrounds the original section of the city to the present day.

Toledo is another very popular tour in Spain available from Madrid, and is - much like Avila and Segovia, a city which is well known for its medieval architecture. Toledo was capital of Spain from the Gothic era to the year 1560, and a large amount of classic architecture has been preserved, making for an excellent and very scenic tour. These tours typically last the better part of a day, and can be arranged to include lunch.

Madrid tours which cover the city itself are numerous, and are typically chosen based on the time of day at which they take place and the event which the tour takes its passengers to at the end of the trip. A typical option for day tours is to finish with a trip to the Madrid bullfights, and these are also organized based on which seats will be provided. Night tours more commonly finish with meals at scenic restaurants or with evening entertainment.

For a simple, shorter tour of Madrid with frequent breaks, a popular option is the ´hop-on hop-off´ tour, typically using a comfortable, open-top double-decker bus. These tours are excellent to get a quick overview of the city and for photography.

This is merely a general over-view of some of the most typical tours, and does not cover the myriad locations available for guided tours, among some previously mentioned, locations covered by tours may include:

Museums/Galleries

  • Casa de América
  • Centro de Arte Reina Sofia
  • Museo Arqueológico
  • Museo del Ejército
  • Museo del Prado
  • Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

Architecture/Plazas/Parks

  • Palacio Real
  • Jardín Botánico
  • Plaza Mayor
  • Parque del Retiro

Religious Architecture

  • Basílica de San Francisco el Grande
  • Real Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial
  • San Nicolás de las Servitas

Casinos of Madrid

With Spain having Madrid as such a lively capital, we recommend you take every advantage to involve yourself with its dynamic atmosphere…Where better to find excitement than in a casino? The glamour and the nerves are an intoxicating mix and a night at the tables really can be a memorable experience for any holiday maker (for the first timer as much as the professional who’s intent on winning enough for another city holiday!). To take best advantage of your night in a Madrid casino, why not play some poker online from your hotel room before venturing out? This will get you into the spirit, teach you the basics and furthermore, give you a chance to win some stakes for the real casinos. It is also a quiet activity which can be enjoyed away from the ever buzzing city.

Once you have enjoyed all the attractions Madrid has to offer, why not see what there is to be seen further a field? The Euro rail service through Europe can take you to such a variety of attractions – picturesque villages, buzzing capital cities and historic towns – the choice is endless and there is no reason to stop just at Madrid!

Madrid really is one of the most exciting and cosmopolitan cities in Europe and it’s great you’ve decided to do your research before going here on this site – there’s so much to see, the best thing for a tourist to this fantastic city to have is a plan! It may be a while off, but once you are satisfied you have seen all there is to see of Madrid, then look into other areas of Spain – Barcelona (to which you can get to from Madrid on a cheap flight (vuelos baratos) or train journey) would appeal to any city lover. The gothic architecture really makes it unique and you will in no doubt leave with unforgettable memories…

Remember to choose your holiday accommodation wisely. If you are more interested in countryside than city life, then why not look at the casas prefabricadas de madera? Much more homely than hotels (and they can work out a lot cheaper), they really are worth it!

Similarly if you are staying in Latin America, you can do as many regular holiday makers do and look into time shares. These given you access to the same property at the same time each year and so you really get to know the place – and what is more, the people who come back year on year like you!
