| The Madrid plazas are some of the most beautiful in Spain, where you can find the typical "Plazas", the places where people gather together and the "Bullrings" or bullfighting plazas, where bullfighting takes place. The most one is the Plaza las ventas Madrid. At this plaza you will find the most famous bullring in Spain. The bullring was constructed in 1931 and is called: Plaza de toros de las ventas.

| The bullring looks like a coliseum, within the arena there are five different gates from which bulls enter the ground. There is one big gate, called the door of Madrid, which is famous because successful matadors leave the arena trough this gate.
Further more the bullring has a chapel and two little hospitals with operation rooms in case of emergencies. If you have a strong stomach, watching a bullfight is possible for a reasonable price.
The second most popular plaza in the capital of Spain is the Plaza Mayor de Madrid. The construction was finished in 1619, although the plaza we know has been reconstructed in 1790 after a couple of fires. During the centuries the Plaza Mayor Madrid has been used for many different purposes: markets, bullfights, public executions and soccer games.

Nowadays the Plaza Mayor is the place where most people meet and have a drink in Madrid because it is in the center of the city and there are many places to go. During the warmer months of the year it is really nice to enjoy a nice cold drink at the most beautiful plaza of Madrid.
Other plazas that are popular are Plaza Puerta Del Sol which is located in the heart of the city near the Plaza Mayor and not far from Plaza Castilla in metro. The Puerta Del Sol gives access to one of Madrid’s biggest metro stations and to the main shopping district. The Plaza the Castilla, which is located in the north of the capital, symbolizes that Spain is the gateway to Europe.
