The most famous Madrid bars are the tapas bars. Almost every small bar in town offers the little dishes of local food. A lot of Madrid tapas bars are gathered at the Calle Cava Baja.

Apart from the tapas bars, Madrid hosts a lot of cocktail-, dance- and lounge bars.

The bars in the centre of the city are always busy. Walking down Cava Baja Madrid you will enjoy the busy street life and the music playing in all the bars. You may go to have some tapas at the weekends, when you can really enjoy the great atmosphere of the city.

These are some of the most popular Madrid bars.

Madrid bars
Areia Colonial chill out
Calle Hortaleza, 92 bajo.
This is an Indonesian-style bar. The chairs and tables are imported from the island which gives the bar a unique look. They serve cocktails, tea, salads and bruchettas. The drinks are a bit over-priced, but the setting makes up for that.

Cervecería
Plaza Santa Ana, 6.
This Madrid bar is over a hundred years old. They serve coffee, liquers, cold snacks, seafood, tapas and a great variety of beers!

Clan
Ronda Toledo, 20.
At Clan bar you can enjoy some tapas while watching a live flamenco performance. They serve small meals, tapas and pinchos.

Cocktail bar del Diego
Calle de la Reina, 12.
Del Diego is a bright cocktail bar with a modern design. The bar is focussed on younger people with flashy colours and lounge music. While you are there, try the Mojito!

Café Commercia
Glorieta de Bilbao, 7
The bar has a classic yet styled look with the heavy wooden tables and leather seats. They serve beers and several spirits, but the specialty of the house is the Patxaran. Patxaran is a fruity Spanish liqueur which you should try.
