Will Madrids Popularity Enough to Host the 2016 Olympic?
Madrid is the capital city of Spain. As a tourist destination Madrid can never be questioned but can it cater to a much larger crowd of tourist for the 2016? Madrid is one of the finalists for the selection of the city that would host the 2016 Olympic Game, together with Chicago, USA, Tokyo, Japan and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The selection will be on October 2, 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
To belong to the four finalists was already an honor to Madrid. It only shows that Madrid as a city indeed has something to offer for the world to see and rediscover. Madrid’s popularity goes beyond boundaries and history.
But the question remains… Will Madrid’s Popularity enough to host the 2016 Olympic? Every city has something to flaunt; what makes Madrid’s assets surpass other cities?
Let us take a closer look of Madrid.

Madrid offers a banquet of culture and history with 133 museums. That some of these museums are given just even minutes away from each other. Reina Sofia, Thyssen and Prado among the most famous among them all.

Madrid has three world heritage sites just an hour away from the city.

More or less 3,000 restaurants which the guest can chose from that complements many nightclubs, theaters and shops.

The city can be accessed the easiest compared to other finalist. Spain’s capital is an easy access by cheap train travel of other location in Europe.

Madrid hotel accommodation is over 65,000 established to go up to 80,000 on the year of the Olympic. Hotel rooms are an element considered in the award criteria of the International Olympic Committee which the city meets easily.

The metro system of the Madrilenos is the most modern and avant-garde in the continent. With 15, 000 taxis to cater to the would-be guest on the Olympic not to mention the Barajas airport which is one of progressive airport in Europe that caters to 142,000 passengers on a daily basis on an average.
