Retiro Park in Madrid, Magnificently Covered by Snow
The snow has brought many changes of activities in Madrid City. The snowfall experienced by the city last January 9 was the heaviest in decade’s time. The airport was closed for the 2nd time in 80 years.
Yet, Madrid never ceases to rock me even snow clad. El Retiro Park, the main park and the ‘lungs of Madrid’, really was magnificently covered in white snow and still it never stops to be fascinating. I fell right there when I first gaze at the white and graceful loveliness in front of me.
The Retiro Park is never out of Madrid travel package. In fact it was one of the main attractions in the place. The tourist who where in the city when the snow fall really got the best time of their lives taking postcard like pictures of Retiro Park or Parque del Buen Retiro or Jardines del Buen Retiro.
Every angle in the park is simply amazing. All of its 120 hectares could be artistically preserved through photography. The Palacio de Cristal and Rose Garden are just a few of the most photographed place.
Museo del Ejercito is one of the remaining architecture from the original palace. It is a collection of Spain’s military legacy and history. The sword of El Cid and the historical cross that Columbus took in his adventure to the New World are the few notable items in the museum.
The match of Museo del Ejercito is the Casón del Buen Retiro.Unlike the former the latter showcases paintings of the famous artists the likes of Joaquín Sorolla.
Estanque del Retiro is another feature that has added another level of exquisiteness to the park. Without the snow, tourist can rent boats to the enjoyment of couples, kids and family.
I am glad to notice that El Retiro Park can be enjoyed it all different season of the year and it is just right to include it in every Madrid travel package.
