When we talk about the city center of the country we expected a lot—from nightlife, business, fashion, liberated peopled and best foods. Indeed Madrid has it all. But one of the best things to try in Madrid is their cuisine. It is said that Madrid is the center point for the best cuisines all over Spain. Though there are various arguments about the fact if gourmets really exists in Madrid however, the city inherited its gastronomy from the previous settlers here which were the Galicians, Asturians and Andalusians as well as the other immigrants who have been settled in Madrid. Due to these facts, Madrid’s cuisines come into different variations.

If you are really curios about Madrid’s culture, tradition and ways of life aside from strolling on their incredible panorama eating their different cuisines will help. Some of the palatable dishes that you should try in Madrid include Callos which mostly served in some of Madrid’s famous restaurants, Cocido Madrileño—this is a stew with a combination of vegetables (like cabbage, potatoes, turnips, carrots and celery) chickpeas and chicken, as well as pork and beef. Don’t forget to try also their Tortilla de patatas or the potato omellette, the Caracoles or snails and of course the famous Besugo al horno recipe. These dishes are common in Madrid despite the fact that they are distance away from the ocean.

Don’t forget also Madrid’s desserts, you should have to try the torrijas—this type of dessert is known to be as French toast, this is mostly common during the spring and Holy Week season. The barquillos or rolled wafers are also worth a try as well as the bartolillos con cema which is a small pie with custard and more. But the famous tapa in Madrid should not be forgotten. It is served as an appetizer, a salty tidbits which is composed of various dishes. Tapa is known as an old gastronomic tradition and it could be found anywhere not only in Madrid but all around the country.
