Plaza de Cibeles, Breathless Travel in Madrid

Madrid Travel is never mediocre. Everything is done as if it is their last day on earth. Thus, a tour in Madrid often involves a breathless pace of activity, scenario, architecture, nightlife and food. This Spanish capital is about cafes, crowds, flamenco, tapas, bullfights, buzz, nightlife, monuments, hotels, pubs, museums, map, parks, passionate things to do, restaurants and bars.

Fuente de las Cibeles is in the middle of the plaza. It is a fountain named after Ceres, a Goddess in Roman Mythology, and the goddess of nature. This is the rendezvous of Real Madrid Fans whenever they won a cup to celebrate their victory. The goddess in a chariot pulled by two lions gladly welcomes such mortals in the midst of her presence.

Antonio Palacios between 1905 and 1917 is the maker of the most prominent architecture in the plaza- Palacio de Comunicaciones which now has become the official city hall of Madrid.

The central bank headquarters of Spain that stores its gold 30 meter below ground level is Banco de Espana. Another prominent building in Plaza de Cibeles is the Palacio de Linares which is now housing art gallery focused on Latin American arts and at the same time a cultural center.

When you visit Plaza de Cibeles during daytime-the onlooker will be besieged by the ethereal sights of the architecture and buildings that surrounds it. But wait till sundown and behold the plaza with its night lights- and definitely another facets of the place will be laid down unto your feet. A must-see itinerary for every tourist.
