When it comes to touristic views and attractions, of all the various cities around the world, Madrid is one of those cities who are really very enthusiastic in promoting the city’s beauty. And of course, since we’re talking about Madrid, this city has indeed so much to be proud of: from Madrid Museums that really portrayed a kind of culture that Spanish people is unique above everyone else’s culture; to Madrid car rentals, to which it maximizes your travel times in a more convenient manner.

But one of the things Madrid is really proud of is their plazas. Would you like to know how tourists view Madrid’s plazas? Well, there is a forum site that posted various descriptions about one of Madrid’s plazas, the famous Plaza Mayor. Here are some of their descriptions.

“We were in Plaza Mayor just at around 10 am when we noticed a small group milling around 2 young men and a woman. we found out that they were volunteer guides who do not charge a rate, but you may give a tip at the end of the tour. Our guide was British in his late 20s but was conversant with the history and culture of Spain. Starting at the Plaza Mayor, the tour winds through the streets and alleys of Madrid, stopping by important structures, statues, spaces, such as the Catedral de Almudena, Palacio Real, as well as pointing out famous food joints (oldest restaurant, best churros), vignettes of famous icons like Picasso and Cervantes.”
-	Swiftfoot

“In the heart of Madrid the Plaza Mayor is steeped in history. Originally an Arab marketplace, In 1590 King Phillip II had it removed and a grand structure put in its place, to be used as a marketplace and meeting place. The original wooden structure 6 stories high, burnt down in 1790, when the present ‘Casa de la Panadería’ was built in the Flemish style. The statue in the centre of the square represents Phillip III.

Today it’s a typical place for visitors to gather, to relax and watch the world go by at the many Tapas bars. Try the typical Bocata de Calamares (Squid sandwich) and a beer. Its also a great central meeting place for VT meetings.”
-	Beach_Dog

“This plaza is full of the history of Spain. Started in late 1500′s, this is where the Spanish Inquisition took place, and where bull fights was a common activity. Nowadays it has tons of restaurants which can be classified as tourist traps and souvenirs stores selling expensive items. This is usually the first place visited by everyone coming to Madrid. From here you can venture in 9 different directions into the cobblestones streets surrounding the Plaza. A must see site in Madrid. Give yourself about an hour to see the entire square.”
-	JLanza2

Do you have personal thoughts about one of the plazas in Madrid? Feel free to add up the comments mentioned above.

When you ponder the city of Madrid for your next getaway, then you hit the best shot! For this Spanish metropolis situated in the very heart of the country is competent among the most developed and popular cities in all over the world, as regards to its Madrid accommodation, affordable shopping items, rewarding events including bullfights and Flamenco dances, nightlife in the bars with tapas smooching, and more to mention.

Madrid hostels and hotels differ in cost and some operations which are really commendable for travelers who need luxurious or reasonable cost of a place to stay. Besides when pleasurable scenic feature of Madrid is what you are tracking down, the Madrid plazas are widespread.

From these kinds of places you can learn about the colorful history of the city, you will be amazed with local and different races of tourists visiting the metropolitan. Make your day pleasantly sightseeing around-

Plaza de Isabel II

Location: to be located on the opposite side of Royal Theater (Teatro Real), at the edge of Calle de Arenal.

In the middle of the Plaza you can see the statue of Queen Isabel II as tribute to her. Queen Isabel II was the daughter of Fernando VII who was the son of the Spain’s famous King Carlos IV and his wife Maria Luisa de Parma.

When she was 13 years old, she was proclaimed Queen. To find a husband for her is one of the queen’s worries that time; and there came Francisco de Asis de Borbon y Borbon (Duke of Cadiz) who was the Queen’s chosen suitor.

Duke of Cadiz and the Queen had 11 children; but the most remarkable thing of their love story was that Francisco de Asis was homosexual and it was believed that he was possibly not the father of any of their children. However, the life of Queen Isabel wasn’t end to that because during her reign she was completely changed. In 1845 a new constitution came into power and battles between various political groups only to obtain more power which came to an extent of dethroning her. Disregarding the crisis, Queen Isabel’s sovereignty had developed lots of change in Spain.

If you visit the square of Plaza de Isabel II, you can perhaps hold more edifying life about the Queen, and simply inspired from it discounting some humor about her as if she had several lovers and used to meet up them at Lhardy´s private room. She was famous because of her open character.
