Classic Music and Opera

Through the years of classic music and opera, it has made a deep influence on the Madrid public. Because of this, many genres of panoramic theater, musical productions and zarzuelas are now held in Spain s capital of musicals.

Zarzuela is a type of popular Spanish opera. These operas could either be comedic or serious - both with spoken dialogue.

Teatro Real

This neoclassic theater was originally built during Isabel II s era around 1850. Recently renovated in 1997, the Teatro Real can now seat around 1,450 to 1,750 people. Its main productions are concerts, ballet, and opera.
It also includes a hallway of exquisite artworks from the Reina Sofia Museum and the Prado. Home of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra , the Teatro Real organizes its own opera yearly.

Auditorio Nacional de Musica

The National Music Auditorium is home to Spain s national orchestra. It is one of the best places in all of Europe to hear authentic classical works by international orchestras. However, the Auditorio Nacional de Musica is closed during July and August. Ticket prices ranges from 1,000 to 1,200 for regular productions.

The Monumental Theater is the official production site of Madrid s Television Orchestra and the National Radio.
