Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando

Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando - Royal Academy of Fine Arts
Francisco Melendez proposed to build a Royal Academy in great cities such as Rome and Paris.
The Royal Academy of Fine Arts was approved by Felipe V in 1744. It launched sometime in 1752 under Fernando the sixth. Originally, it was located at the Plaza Mayor inside the Casa de la Panaderia . However, in 1773, it was relocated to Alcala Street - its present position, by the authority of Carlos III.
The three-floored building of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando houses famous artworks of artists such as Murillo, Van Dyck, Magnasco, Velasquez and Rubens.
With a moderately priced admission fee, the gallery is open during Tuesdays to Fridays from 9 am until 7 pm. At no cost, the gallery is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 2 pm.
You may visit the Royal Academy of Fine Arts via metro going to Sevilla or Sol station.
