Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza - Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum
Located at the Prado Avenue , this building houses the private collection of Baron Heinrich Thyssen . Known as the second most significant gallery in the world - next to the collection of Queen Elizabeth II, it features an impressive art collection of paintings and sculptures.
Originally, his collections were located in Switzerland . When he decided to relocate all of the art works, the Baron received numerous offers from different countries. Baron Thyssen, being a devoted Spanish, hence decided to bring the art to Madrid .
Housed in the extravagant building of Palacio de Villahermosa , the museum has permanent exhibits and temporary displays divided in 51 different rooms.
Approximately 1,000 artworks are displayed in the Museo Thyssen - Bornemisza . Included in the list are world-renowned artists such as Van Gogh, Picasso, Cezanne, Constable, Holbein, Rubins, Cranach and Monet.

The highlight of the Thyssen - Bornemisza Museum includes Holbein s portrait of Henry the seventh, Constable s The Lock and Van Gogh s Les Vessenots.
There are also valuable items such as jewelries, carved ivories, and ceramics that will make your eyes glitter with excitement.
With an admission fee, you may visit the Museo Thyssen - Bornemisza every Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am until 7 pm. To go to the museum, you can ride the metro either to Banco de España station or via the railway going down to Recoletos or Atocha.
