January

Every New Year s eve, thousands of people join at the Puerta del Sol . The community, including visitors and locals, make way for the New Year by welcoming it with stunning fireworks.
When midnight comes, many of the people gather and eat twelve grapes - one for every time the clock strikes. As a yearly Spanish tradition, it is said that every grape counts for one wish and it will bring good luck to those who practice it. After midnight, the streets of Madrid are transformed into a party zone for everyone.

Another event in January is the Reyes Magos , or the day of the Three Wise Men. It is commenced by a procession that goes through the streets of Hortaleza . The event features a carnival show wherein magicians carry gifts and give it to Spanish children. This tradition is also celebrated by other cities in Spain .
