Traditions

Madrid is well known for being a traditional city. Although it has opened its gates to foreign visitors, the people from Madrid still follow traditions that originated thousands of years ago.
Traditions The residents of Madrid call their city as La Villa or the Village . In many areas of the city, some traditions came from a time where all the villages are not yet joined together as part of Madrid . Because of this, some yearly events are celebrated only within small communities.
In addition to its original rituals, many of these traditions come from different parts of Spain . This is mainly because of the large influx of immigrants that came during the 1960 s.

According to Madrileño s, the city and its people is filled with mucha marcha - a Spanish term translated as lively spirit. This statement is proven by many visitors who just can t get enough of Madrid s culture, events and people.

If you do enjoy learning about other cultures, why not learn about teh rich cultural heritage of Andalucia too? Options such as Malaga car hire allow you to explore the whole of the South – form the awe inspiring Alhambra Palace to the stunning beaches of Cadiz…Spain really does have a lot of culture to offer!
